Q.U.E.E.F.

Q.U.E.E.F. by Todd Brian Backus started as a 10-minute mashup of drag queens and wrestling, but thanks to the fine folks at the Maine Playwrights Festival, Todd wants to make it something more. Stay tuned for camp, chokeslams, and catty queens in this upcoming queer fantasia on gender performance.

About the Play - Milo, a queer kid with stars in their eyes recounts the night their life changed at Q.U.E.E.F., the Queen’s Ulitmate Entertainment Exposition Fighters, a drag-wrestling troupe in Portland, Maine. The night in question is when Susie Suplex won her title belt and became Miss Sloppy Seconds. After the bouts, Milo asks Vinny, the Emcee and wringleader of Q.U.E.E.F. if there will be auditions for future bouts, but Milo learns that meeting your heroes isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
